GoG includes some important command line switches, most notably one which prevents CTDs caused running SC4 on Multi-Core, (i.e. GoG contains all the language options Disk users had and a simple application to switch. Why?, because GoG listen to customers and adapted their release to make things easier, for example: I don't understand the bad luck, but speaking as a user of the GoG version myself, I can tell you it's hands down the best release of SC4 out there. And if you have a layman's terms explanation of how you did it, that is sure welcome too. If anyone has a funny instance like this and fixed it, I'd love to hear about it. Go ahead and laugh. I have to in any case. It'll be a long process, but I'll eventually have to move or reinstall plugins small chunks at a time, and delete others as I can. Not to mention trying to use the SC4DataNode tool to figure out what the heck I'm missing. I admit I let it go to crap and the 17th level of Dante's Inferno in chaos. It's freaking Windows 7, what do you mean 'my version of Windows isn't compatible'? So I emailed the GOG staff (from the tablet again) to inquire about re-downloading the game in case there was an issue with the download itself, but that was almost 24 hours ago and no response yet.Īlong with that, I can't even begin to start with the headache of sorting my Plugins folder.

After finally getting that set up and downloading the game, I transfer the setup icon to my computer, double-click to start installing, just to have it tell me that it isn't compatible with my version of Windows and that I need to contact the software publisher.

I had issues registering with GOG because the site wouldn't display properly to register an account. I currently hold two disc copies of DE, one is wearing out and the other is a new back-up.
#GOG CHECKING LOCAL FILES UPDATE#
Having lost my ability to play this game over 4 months ago (thank you so much Windows Update for screwing up the secdrv.sys) I sought to acquire my own copy. With that being said, I was curious and excited to hear of a site that could offer a straight download of the game with no disc needed.

As we all know, with the unfortunate effects of advancements in technology, namely compatibility issues, we have to adapt best we can. Since discovering this wonderful brilliant community just a few years ago, I have endeavored to use as much custom content as possible to enhance the gameplay. Using myself for example: I have played SC4 DE almost addictively since 2004. Seems like there's always someone who gets the bad luck, and every so often, that person tries to make the best of it.
